Event Manager (Part-Time)

Old Carter Barn is seeking a confident, capable Part-Time Event Manager to run on-site operations during weddings and special events. This position is for a true self-starter—someone who sees what needs to be done and does it, without waiting for instruction.

This is a date-specific, part-time position with the potential to expand to additional events and responsibilities over time.

Pay rate: $25/hr. (1099 will be issued)

Reporting Structure

This position reports to Dave Maxey, OCB Manager. While leadership and support are available, the Event Manager must be comfortable working largely unsupervised and making real-time decisions independently on event days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be friendly and outgoing
  • Act as a calm, professional point of contact for the wedding party, vendors, and guests.
  • Serve as the primary on-site lead during weddings and events when manager is not present.
  • Supervise event set-up, décor placement, ceremony support, and breakdown
  • Maintain the order, cleanliness, and presentation of the facility throughout the day
  • Proactively manage the event timeline and keep the wedding day running smoothly and on schedule
  • Anticipate needs, solve problems, and address issues without being prompted
  • Communicate clearly with vendors, officiants, and venue leadership as needed

Qualifications & Experience

  • Prior experience in hospitality, restaurants, catering, or event venues strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Organized, observant, and decisive—comfortable leading without micromanagement
  • Strong interpersonal skills and sound judgment in fast-paced environments

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move chairs, tables, décor, and event equipment
  • Comfortable standing, walking, and being on your feet for extended periods
  • Able to navigate indoor and outdoor event spaces easily
